The original Left 4 Dead was an excellent take on the zombie apocalypse. This game offers the actual excitement people get when they see hordes of anything on the horizon and then have to react to and survive the ordeal. I can't count how many times a person has actually called out in terror at being assaulted by the tank, or being incapacitated by the witch. Support that kind of gameplay with excellent HD graphics, an easy to navigate control scheme, some excellent multiplayer and multiplayer modes, as well as 4 new special infected and melee weapons and you have yourself a winner.
The downside is that the meat of this game is going to be online or multiplayer. To most that is a great thing, but given the scant 5-6 hour maximum it will take to beat all of the campaign missions you're left with nothing but the hopes of future online expansions and multiplayer matches.
Despite all of this Left 4 Dead 2 is exactly what fans of the original were looking for. It is a great sequel that addresses a lot of the issues fans had with Left 4 Dead, and is a great game even to play solo.
