"Awesome A new DotA...what... I can pick 5 heroes only??"

User Rating: 5 | League of Legends PC
Ok... DotA was just started. The old veterans upgraded their PCs. DotA went in history as the most played team game. But the age took on its hold, and DotA became suffocated by the rules of WCIII. People that played it,and those that made it-had a dream. Before the two powers would rise in the gaming world, a smaller, nearly unnoticed game was published. "Demigod" is hardly mentioned and therefore wont be taken into count. Anyway... People that worked on DotA created League of Legends. People that loved and played DotA made Heroes of Newerth. When the open beta for HoN started, a massive flood of people has been noticed, taking average active players count from 30-40k a day to 50-60 k a day. There are speculations that around 1.5 million new accounts were created. But! LoL made a quite impressive number too. Its about 1 million + . What is the thing with LoL. Its way to easy if you played DotA. It has no real role play, since there are no STR/AGI/INT stats or heroes. Every hero, or "champion" scales perfectly late game *which is 20 mins in game*. LoL is kid oriented, funny to master, spam fest. Bad side is that you need to pay either real money, or play it like an addict to unlock champions that are stronger making this game quite unfair. There is no real team-play in LoL. Winning is just based on how good other players did. LoL is just 1vs1 with 5 players in. People hardly communicate, there is no point in ganking, and champion synergies are almost non existent. Ever second or third hero has a barrier skill as their core ability, and there is same spell as summoner ability. Barrier is overused disable in the game. There are spells a player can use to support his champion like heal and revive. In my honest opinion, these spells are hacks that make the game even more easy then it is.
Ancient eye bleeding cell shading graphics provide LoL even more of a "children game" look. I think the target group was 5-10 y.o.Animations are clunky, and everything feels robotic. Aside from ridiculous character design. There is a girl with bear, and a evil miniature...evil bear something. Killing hero is just 2 clicks away. Half game in you have essential items needed to spam spells and own. I mean...Based on DotA that had strong team-play and coordination, real role play cus you needed to build items to suits the role you play (engage tank, skill tank, attack tank, hard carry, semi carry, support carry, engager mage, nuke mage, support mage) also item build was varied considering what enemy heroes you are up against. LoL has no real role play. Ever hero can carry, and there is no real role. You don't need a team or coordination. You just need to learn how to play 1 hero.out of 40/ I think it is kinda sad what Riot did for DotA. they said they wanted that. They stripped the game-play of farming/denying and gave low cool-downs and a lot of mana, making every game a spam fest.DotA was gradual, you fought to rise to power over a 1 hour long game. And that is what HoN did. They took every great aspect of DotA and implemented it in HoN. It is the new DotA. So...What is the difference between LoL and HoN? Well it the target group. HoN is violent, hard core veteran game that punishes people for not knowing/playing dota. But that was fixed with tutorial and excessive guide on forums. It's team-based game play, that forces you to know every hero and spell, requires a dedication like DotA, that isn't necessary in LoL. LoL is arcade fun mode that will never see the tournament lights[and if it does then the end of the world is near] On the other hand, LoL champion skills progress with items, making them more potent late, unlike HoN and DotA that have 2 items for skill upgrades. Also in LoL you need to pay real money/play a lot of games to earn point and unlock runes to help your champion.Think of this as a hack.Other then that, both HoN and LoL have suggestion items in shop, but imho HoN shop is organized better, with new window opening aside, and not forcing you to slide trough menus.
HoN is a game that can't be measured by a mile with LoL. Its serious and dedicated.LoL is childish and laid back. I guess they do it all the time. WoW was great until they simplified it and allowed everyone to be everything, thus pissing on their own idea.
HoN>DotA>LoL.My advice is: Play DotA...If that is hard for you to master, don't try HoN since it is DotA on drugs. Better graphics, with better engine and animations, varied new heroes and items,team-based pwnage. Watching your hero die in HoN is beautiful as watching skill animations.A hero that looks like a tree falls down and on that place a grass and flowers emerge.A stone elemental breaks down to pieces. Dammed armor warrior looses his flames and only empty shell falls to the ground. A time controlling hero dissipates in a flash of light.Puppet Master falls down and his puppet made out of straw runs to the woods. Nuking heroes is awesome to watch too. Final words : LoL is fun to play but has no real essence. It feels like you are playing Yu-gi-oh and you are just controlling our summoned card. This gave it even more childish aspect. If you cant learn about 50 different heroes and items, play LoL as you like casual games. I won't say LoL is bad, it is just poorly created. And their servers lag like hell for Eu players. Hardly had any lag in HoN. Final score for LoL 5/10
PS:
HoN download is 200~Mb big and it looks wonderful.
