Sure, the game suffers from some serious technical issues...but they are worth getting over, because this game delivers.

Say whatever you want, this is the Tomb Raider with the strongest story to be found, and one of the best written stories ever. The graphics are very nice (although I'll never figure out what exactly did they mean by those ears), the soundtrack is fantastic, the game time is optimal and I dare to say it's also this TR with the finest cutscenes to offer.

The difficulty is pretty low, however the frustration source is the controls for many, occasionally an unfriendly camera and the slow movement of Lara (and later also Kurtis). But, you can get used to all of this, and even though some of Lara's animations are unreasonably long, they still are good to look at and shouldn't cause any troubles whatsoever. An actual problem worth mentioning lies in local strength increasing system, which is simply half-baked - in order to kick some doors open, move some barrel and jump over some gap, it's often necessary to increase her power first. That alone doesn's sound so illogical, but could someone explain to me why are these triggers always placed on only one certain object? When you spend about ten minutes moving completely identical boxes back and forth and climbing them, just to reach their top and move yet another box (which is, of course, also completely identical) and after touching it Lara says something like "I feeeel stronger naoooo" in an ab invito seductive way, you'll be powerless to not go all WTF about it.

But the biggest problem of the whole game is that it bores more often than not. While it does make sense for the game to be about exploring and wandering around locations and...exploring...but, shouldn't all the exploring be well combined with some action? It sure should. And is it? Of course it is, but not very well. I mean, as opposed to the previous games in the series, where there also was a whole lot of exploring, in this one all the action you can get comes in form of pathetic little guards, bats and mentally ill skeletons, and these confrontations even come quite rarely. Seriously, it's much greater challenge to get killed in this game, than to keep yourself alive. On the other hand, literally everyone's safe to beat the game this way.

The levels played with Kurtis also deserve a special mention. These are great by themselves, they're very atmospheric, they aren't over too frustrating, and actually they could easily be the best levels of the game. But Kurtis is dick. He can't sprint, he's SLOW, and in cutscenes he shows off with something fairly close to magic, but while playing you simply can't use any of it (what the?). Anyway, at the end of the day it turns out he is an important part of the story, so those few moments spent with him aren't completely wasteful.

Another cosmetical flaw is a fine bugs collection. I dare to say the unpatched version of the game would be absolutely unplayable, and even the patched one crashes from time to time, there still are some missing textures, Lara's limbs still like to stretch now and then etc.

However, the game still dominates with its story, which is simply worth all the misery you'll have to get over. Besides, in this game Lara is still cold and merciless, in other words she's just the way I love her.

+ VERY strong story, fantastic soundtrack, good graphics, solid gameplay, optimal game time

- Bugs, enemies have hardly any chance to kill you, Kurtis, controls are hard to get used to, slow pace, the power increasing system, exceedingly boring at times
