An instant classic - any fan of the Zelda games or action RPGs in general will adore this game

I have to say in over twenty years of gaming, I can't think of many other games that I have enjoyed as much as LandStalker. This is a shining jewel in the Megadrive/Genesis back catalogue and has aged very well. If you haven't played this before, this is a retro experience you need to have!

There's just something magical and classic about this game. The difficulty level is perfect, always challenging but always manageable. The humour in the game works wonderfully and the cast of characters are endearing and interesting ( for example you can't help but smiles every time Kayla and her goons show up with their wonderfully OTT theme tune!). There's a meaty, well-plotted quest as well as dozens of secrets to be uncovered, and the game has an entertaining double-act of lead charactersin Nigel and Friday. The isometric view gives the game a fantastic look, and while some platform jumping can be awkward at times, it's still fun leaping around as the control system is implemented well. The game is an enjoyable quest from start to finish and has a charm greater than even Nintendo's finest. There's just so much to keep you playing.

Climax haven't managed to top this game yet, though the outstanding Dark Savior on Saturn did come close. It's right up there with the Zelda titles, though I personally prefer LandStalker's style. I really do hope the PSP remake eventually surfaces. I don't gush over every game I play, but would have no hesitation in recommending this classic RPG to Wii players as it has amazing replay value, is a hugely enjoyable experience and as such deserves to be in the homes of Nintendo gamers everywhere.
