It's a good game to pass the time with, especially with all those easter eggs you'll spot while playing.

Let’s talk about Knights of Pen and Paper + 1. I bought my copy during a Humble Bundle sale and this was the game that caught my eye. The premise is you’re controlling a bunch of people playing a game of D&D. It’s obviously meta. You set up your own team and assign them their job classes.

I currently have a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl Rogue, Grandma Barbarian, Schoolteacher Druid, Hipster Mage, and a Paris Hilton Paladin.

The game is simple. You do quests, you kill monsters, you earn gold. It’s got a linear enough story line with a bunch of side quests so you don’t have to worry about it getting too dull.

What I like is how you’re able to customize your battle experience. You can choose how many monsters you can go against and what kinds. It’s easy going against 5 sewer rats, orrr you can mix it up a bit and go with 2 giant bats, 1 giant sewer rat, and 2 regular sewer rats. It’s all about mixing and matching to your heart’s content.

You can also buy furniture for the room your playing in which affects your stats- having a tardis increases your magic by 5. Boosts are available through the food you consume- sushi can give you an increase of 5% experience for 15 minutes of gameplay.

There are a lot of visual references to other video games, series, movies, and books. You’re going to be able to spot a couple if not all. Take a look at this Journey villager in the Journey Village.

I’d recommend this game. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be writing about it.
