ok, it will never acheive the cult level status of the NES Mario games, but it is a pretty sweet game. If you ever played the old old Gameboy version (I mean back when the gameboy was a brick) you'll know what to expect. It's more or less a fleshed out version of that with bigger worlds, more levels, and just more to do.

The powerup abilitiy, where you eat specific characters and take their special powers, is really well done. There's a large variety of powerups to choose from, along with some special rare ones you can only get in certain places at very specific time. (UFO anyone?) Along with the huge variety is the gameplay possibilities. Depending on your current atributes, you can have an easy time, or a very difficult time getting through the level. If you know how to use your powers wisely, you can absolutly destroy your enemies with ease.

The graphics and saound are excellent (for NES standards that is) There are times where it dabbles in the 3rd dimmension with draw distance, which is a really cool effect from the time. Music is unique, a new track wherever you go.

Overall it's just a really fun experiance. Everyone who still owns an NES HAS to get this game
