The King's Quest series is well worth your time. These games actually require thought! Continue the adventure with KQ2.

User Rating: 7.8 | King's Quest II: Romancing The Throne PC
King’s Quest 2: Romancing The Throne continues where KQ1 left off. King Edward of Daventry has died, and as a reward for finding the Three Treasures of Daventry, Sir Graham has become King Graham. However, King Graham has no wife, and thus no heir to his throne. He speaks to the Magic Mirror (one of the Treasures) and it reveals the most beautiful maiden he has ever seen. Valanice of Kolyma has been imprisoned by a witch in an enchanted world, and Graham begins his quest to save her.

Like King’s Quest 1, KQ2 has many puzzles which require a lot of thought; also like KQ1, you can solve some of the puzzles in more than one way. As always in this series, nonviolence is rewarded over violence. Remember to save early and save often to avoid a dead end or wandering into the occasional monster’s lair or falling down the stairs. The references to mythology and fairy tales continue in this game, with appearances by Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother, for one example.

The interface is the same as the first game – you type in commands to interact with objects on the screen. The graphics are only slightly improved over KQ1, but remember that this 16-color game was top-of-the-line technology at its release.

Continue in your adventure as King Graham in KQ2… the game is very tame compared to more violent games of modern years, and is great to play alone or as a family.
