"A word to the not so wise": Do not play as Aqua first!

User Rating: 8 | Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep PSP
Okay, so this is actually only the second Kingdom Hearts game I played from begining to end and did I like it as much as 358/2? The short answer: no, not quite.

But after further analisis I can easily conclude that this is a better game. The macanics are the best of the series (as of writing this I have play all the KH games except Re: coded) it's easy to continue attacking and still switch over to spells and items. The attacks are really powerful and even when you die the large variety will help keep each battle at least a little diffrent.

The story is great so long as you DON"T PLAY AS AQUA FIRST! I made this mistake because her focus is magic and, what can I say, I'm a Harry Potter guy and I like magic. This lessened my gaming experience. This is probably the easiest mistake you could make playing the game for the first time. If you play as Aqua first you get all of the pay off with none of the build up since she essencially just goes to worlds the other two have already left and hence her story is the weakest. This is why playing as Terra and Ven was such a drag for me, I already knew what would happen to them.

As for the voice acting it is as expected. Alot of people will say that Terra's voice acting was bad or that Aquas was bad but really it's just normal; truethfully their character do no express as wide a range of emotions as some of the other characters in the Kingdom hearts series, mostly just sadness because this is (however slightly) a darker story. Lenerad Nemoid ( Spock) as Xeheanort was amazing and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker/ Voice of Joker in Animated Batman) was great in the breif time he was in the game.

So if you're a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series you will, without a doubt, like this game. It's fun, sleek, and easy to pick up. If your new to the series the game might make sence if your willing to accept the keyblades with no questions asked and most of the actual mechanics of the way things work. I only have 3 or 4 PSP game but I can quite confidently say that this is the best one I have.
