Definitely no Halo killer. More like Brute Force but not quite that good either...

I'm really disappointed in this game. I have both a PS2 and an XBox and thought it might be time to dust off the PS2 (which I honestly haven't touched since Champions of Norrath) but it's just not there. With Halo2 only days away it looks like my PS2 will sit dormant at least another month... I swear if it wasn't for Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts I'd sell it for scrap... Even GT4 now is dropping online... sigh... I will say that the story sounded interesting and might make for a good book. The idea of the Helghan being human was probably a mistake - the Covenant in Halo (and the Flood for that matter) are interesting because they are SO alien, and it opens up more variety of enemies to take on. Here they are still basically human (yawn). At least they could have mutated more maybe. They also could have made the game more interesting with a better weapons variety as did Turok or Unreal Tournament. At least those games had some innovative ways to kill rather boring opponents. The graphics are good for the PS2 but it's really showing it's age. The frame rate is horrible. Halo (and I'm talking the Halo that was released years ago, not Halo 2) puts it to shame in this area. It feels like you're playing a PC game on a bad video card. Multiplayer is ok, but 007 Rogue Agent looks better to me (although I haven't tried it yet). And the weapons selection still really brings it down.
