Quite possibly one of the best console shooters on the market, and is currently the best available on the Playstation 3.

User Rating: 9 | Killzone 3 PS3
Killzone 3 offers an experience different from all other FPS games currently available. In comparison to its competition: Call of Duty Black Ops and Medal of Honor... Killzone wipes the floor with them. It does this, not only with sharper, more pristine visuals and intense action but also with Multiplayer value as well. Killzone 3 multiplayer features a wide array of maps with varying locations. The maps are large in size for the number of players and feature key strategic points teams can plan to avoid or ambush. Killzone 3's multiplayer works on a class system. The classes are the Infiltrator, Marksman, Engineer, Tactician, and Field Medic. Each class is very different and features a special ability. For instance, the Marksman can cloak himself and become invisible while not shooting. Infiltrators can disguise themselves as members of the enemy team and can easily sneak up on opponents. Engineers can spawn turrets and bots as well as fixing ammo deposits to aid the battle. Comparing Killzone 3's multiplayer to other current FPS games... it's a bit harder. Some aren't up for the initial learning curve Killzone throws at you.... However, it is worth the time and effort to become better and increase your skills as you level up.

As far as the campaign is concerned, Killzone 3 features a pretty good one. While the writing isn't all that great, the action is definitely all there. There are times where you will have to sneak by enemy Helghast in an alien jungle. Other times where you'll find yourself in a firefight inside a space ship where gravity isn't always normalized. Even though you experience all this action you never feel really attached to any of the characters, they're just kinda there... Regardless, the okay story doesn't take anything away from the fun and exhilaration of the action. Killzone mixes up the activity quite a lot and the first time you play the campaign you never know what you're going to get. The Single Player is roughly 7-9 hours depending on your skill level and the difficulty you're playing on. There is also a Co-Op campaign feature but sadly there is no online option for this... only local split screen. Co-Op play is far from bad, but it is also far from refined, but in the end it's worth checking out if you have a buddy with you.

Additional features include support for the Playstation Move and 3D. Unfortunately, I have no way of trying the 3D so I cannot comment on it. However, I do own the Playstation Move and Sharpshooter, I must say Killzone works absolutely flawlessly with it. The control is slick and the aiming sensitivity can be adjusted with a slider. If you have the move, Killzone 3 makes great use of it and incorporates the feature into the game very well. For most, the Move in no way replaces the Dualshock 3 controller but makes for a very nice addition to the game and allows for a bit more replay value.

All in all, if you're looking for some good intense FPS action on PS3 look no further. Killzone 3 is an excellent game and will remain one for a very long time.
