O.K. Killing Floor is a good game, a PC/Mac/Linux exclusive (cross platform mp available on the 3 system types). Tripwire are doing their customers right, with frequent free content, and what little you pay for, it's ridiculously cheap usually and not a game breaker if you choose not to get it, or not at this time. A good/active community online as well. There are single player cheats, but of course you won't earn achievements that way if you're into those. That said, single player in this game (without cheats) isn't as easy as L4D sp for example. This game is much easier with other people to help with the onslaught of enemies (failed experiments). If you want a challenge, try going through a few levels alone with a character that's new & not really upgraded! Most people play Killing Floor for the mp/co-op. Upgrades are even more important (to pick right, not room for error in selection when you're on your own) in single player and I found myself rushing to the next weapons set up. There is also a free MOD out Defence Alliance2 that you can download through your Steam account. Purchase of game includes VAC (Valve Anti Cheat), Stats, Level Editor and free mods. You can either download Killing Floor from Steam or buy it in physical retail stores if you prefer the physical copy, and it's only $19.99 at places like Best Buy, Walmart, etc.
*UPDATE* Now with the SteamWorkShop, there's plentiful free content from the modding community- maps/levels, weapons, mutators, skins, ui, whitelisted items, etc. Best thing to do is go check it out yourself. The game goes on big sales a few times each year, at least 2-3 a year the game devs. put out new content/achievements (over 225 currently) -every summer, around Halloween, and Christmas. Right now the Killing Floor Summer Event is underway (Peir of Pain- trailer available), go to Steam to check out all 7 trailers, and purchase it at 80% off ($3.99), even the 6pack of the game is 80% off ($19.99). If you miss the sale, you know it will go on sale again at predictable times (mentioned above).
