Terrible controls ruin what could have been a fun game.

User Rating: 2 | Kidz Sports International Football WII
This is one of the worst games I have ever played, in large part because of nearly impossible controls. Basically, Kidz Sports International Soccer takes place in a neighborhood full of kids who are playing soccer, very similar to the Backyard Sports series. However, this game fails to live up to its full potential.

Graphics: The environments are not that bad, in fact they're rather colorful in some areas. However, each of the teams has a player with the exact same head as a player on the other team, and I sometimes found it difficult to tell whether that player was on my team or not since the heads are rather large in comparison to the rest of the body. 3/10

Game play: This is what kills the game. The motion-sensitive controls are poorly designed and nearly worthless. For instance, to tackle, the player must swing both the Wii Remote and Nunchuck in a downwards curve. Yet about half the time I tried it (while controlling my player with the Nunchuck) it didn't respond. And that's only the beginning. Shooting is also a challenge. Supposedly, you bring the Wii Remote up and then swing it down to shoot. However, almost every time I did that, the result was a lob shot, which goes in about 25 percent of the time. This became very frustrating and is made even worse when you see the AI pull off an amazing shot for a goal almost every time, even on the easiest setting. I tried to make some sense of the controls by trying out the two mini-games, but the controls are just as bad. 1/10

Sound: Not that bad. The cartoon sounds heard during the game are ok but can get a little annoying sometimes. The music heard on the menu screens is fair, but it gets stuck in your head if you stay there too long. 3/10

Overall, this game is not worth getting, if you happen to find it at all. In fact, as far as I can tell, it's not even on the Nintendo Channel, which covers nearly every Wii and DS game. I'm 16, and I certainly did not have fun with it. Since this game is supposedly made for kids, I can't imagine anyone 8 or 10 years old having fun with it. So if somehow you end up with this game, your best bet is to give it to GameStop (not a typo) for at least some of your money back.
