An under appreciated masterpiece.

User Rating: 9.8 | Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED Destiny: Rengou vs. Z.A.F.T. II Plus PS2
You know, I never did like Gundam games. In fact, most games that are based off of anime are generally terrible; I guess you could compare this to Uwe Boll's movies which are more or less based on video games. Although I don't understand much Japanese (I can pick up key words here and there, and I can't read the kanji for my life), I still got around ok.

Gameplay: Gundam Seed Destiny Alliance VS Z.A.F.T II PLUS revolves around the storyline of Gundam SEED Destiny. The P.L.U.S. mode option places you into a storyline-like gameplay that contain many scenes from the original anime that ardent Gundam SEED fans will no doubt remember. As for the gameplay itself, the combat system is deep and will no doubt take the average gamer a few hours before they become accustomed to GSD's controls. The game is especially a wonderful experience when you're playing with an equally adept player; the beam combat, melee abilities, skill, and strategy involved in every battle is simply amazing.

Sound: The sound effects and music is completely from the original GSD anime series (with the exception of perhaps Heine and the Astray pilots, who may have done additional voice acting). This, of course, does not detract from the music soundtrack at all; both Gundam SEED and Destiny has some of the best anime songs in existence (e.g. Ignite)

Graphics: The mobile suits are extremely detailed and well rendered. For a PS2 game, it met and exceeded my expectations.

Value: This game is flat out amazing. There is a lot of unlockables and the PLUS mode itself takes a very long time to fully complete.

This is a Gundam game is a masterpiece that any gamer should try out, regardless if they've watched the anime series or not. My only regret is that it will most likely never be released in the USA; which is most likely a blessing in disguise since this also means that the voice acting will never be butchered either.
