Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer is a great game and one of the only good surfing games out there.

There are almost no surfing video games out there and out of the ones available just about all of them are pretty bad. Then along came Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer which is basically a surfing version of the Tony Hawk games. Unlike Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder KSPS is actually good both games take the Tony Hawk formula to the water & snow but only one really works.

The gameplay in KSPS is excellent the trick system is exactly like the Tony Hawk system but with some slight changes. There are tons of tricks to do but most of these tricks are incredibly unrealistic like being able to do 540 backflips on a surfboard or doing kickflips on a surfboard. But most of the other tricks are realistic you can get barreled do carves and stuff like that. The single player mode is pretty long and there are tons of different famous beaches you can surf at. Each level has a set of goals and you have three minutes to complete as many of these goals as you can. Most of the time these goals will consist of getting high scores, doing special tricks, and taking out random people on your surfboard. There is also multiplayer which is very fun there are lots of different modesto choose from.

The graphics are good for gamecube the water is nicely done and so are the characters but the same can't be said for the backgrounds. The sound is okay there is a really nice soundtrack but the sound effects aren't as good. Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer is a pretty long and fun game that should be bought by any fan of surfing.
