So simple, yet so deep. Don't overlook Katamari Damacy.

Although too much innovation in video games is becoming a cliche, Katamari Damacy really pumps as much innovation as it can into this, uhh rolling stuff into a ball genre. Yes, in Katamari Damacy for the Playstation 2, you roll objects into a ball. Your ball, the Katamari controls by tilting the control stick in directions and control sticks is all that you need in Katamari. You can switch directions, etc. all with the thumbsticks.

The story is of that the King of All Cosmos (that creepy big man with the even creepier bulge in the groin area of his pants.) has accidentaly destroyed the stars so he sends you, the tiny prince to use your Katamari to roll up objects from Earth to replace the moon and stars. You can only roll up objects bigger than your ball so you have to start off small but then grow. You are timed in most levels and have to get your ball a certain size but you are always encouraged to get it bigger.

The game is not long by any means but it has some neat extras and ball rolling is as addictive beyond imagine. When your big enough you can roll up cats, dogs, humans, skyscrapers, and even islands. It is very fun, simple and awesome.

The music is really awesome. It is very, very strange but totally awesome meking it one of the best soundtracks on a Playstation 2 game. The sound effects are nice too. The graphics have a cool blocky style and that is how they are supposed to be. They are not exactly impressive by technical standards but they look cool.

Katamari also has missions where you are making constellations by rolling up certain things like in one you have to roll up as many crowns as you can and in a nother as many women as you can. These are stange but fun. The game is short but has a stellar yet strange multiplayer 2 played battle mode that will entertain you. In conclusion, Katamari is an awesome, innovative game that should not be missed.
