A Great Remix of the Same Song

User Rating: 8 | Just Dance 2015 WIIU

Just Dance 2015 is a great game. It packs in many up to date songs and dances that feel fun and fresh and not simply copied over from previous Just Dance titles. Some last minute surprises such as "Break Free" and "Let it Go" are welcome to the dance floor, while some random oldies such as Gloria Gaynor's "Never Can Say Goodbye" and Frankie Bostello's "Mahna Mahna" are some odd choices. The JD games however are infamous for adding some oldies, in the hopes of enticing some of the previous generations by adding some of their music. Yet these spots on the roster could have much better been filled by "Chandelier" or "Anaconda". Those might come later as DLC, but that's not as good as coming with the game.

But on the dancing side of things, everything is great. The dances are really fun, albeit a bit hard for a beginner. My one complaint is the backgrounds. This game, the backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous, almost distracting. Yet the dances also zoom in and out on the dancer, change colors rapidly and burst background objects out at you, making the dances look like well choreographed music videos instead of easy, family-friendly dances. Especially on dances such as "Dark Horse," "Happy" and "I Love It," the dances become difficult simply due to funky camera angles or weird background objects. These often distract to the degree of making you off balance and lost.

Overall, Just Dance 2015 is a great remix of the good ol' JD song; great songs with great dances. Although the overkill backgrounds and lack of easy dances takes away from the family aspect and narrows down the audience to the dedicated fans, the game is still worth getting picked up if you enjoyed any of the previous titles or love dancing in general.

Until next time, Hudson
