You don't need to like manga for this game to be fun.

This game is so addicting. I purchased it a few days ago and have already put in over 20 hours. I am a fan of a few of the properties represented in the game, such as One Piece, Death Note, and DBZ, but the odd gameplay is what prompted me to make the purchase. The koma-system in which you build deck of manga panels is incredibly inticrate. There are so many panels, each of which provides a boost, stat effect, or special attack (or all three), that the combinations of decks are practically endless. The gameplay really is very similar to SSB, but in my opinion it's a lot less frustrating and generally way more fun. If you have a tendency toward obsession or addiction, this game is both good and bad for you. The language barrier would be almost impossible to get past if it weren't for the fan-made FAQs listed at this site. Wi-fi would have made this game perfect, and the download play isn't very good (it limits you to the "sample decks" which only allows for a few different characters). The graphics don't really take full advantage of the DS, but the animations are smooth and the representations are dead on. There are tons of missions and a ton of battle and support characters to unlock, and the gameplay is almost untouchable. It's so good in fact, that I've started to seek out some of the other jump series from the game.
