Tighter controls would make this game next to perfect.

This is one of the best games that I think I have ever played. Sweet music, fun combo system, the environments are a joy to look at and play in as well. And for an xbox original, it has amazing physics.

So, lets get to the pros. I overviewed most of them, but I want to get into detail with them. There are so many good things with this game, it's amazing. The art style and cell-shaded graphics are amazing and set a great tone for the game. The skating is fun and I love the trick system in the game. The soundtrack has a few bad scores, but the thousands of good ones more than make up for the minor flaws. The level design itself is fun and in every new level I find myself saying "this is my favorite level so far". This game is so good in so many ways if I said them all, you would still be reading this review until 5 in the morning.

So with that said, let's get on to the cons. First, the controls are crap. This game makes me so frustrated sometimes, just because it is so unforgivable. If you make a timing mistake by a fraction of a second, you will miss your jump or turn. I don't mind having to have skill to play a game, but I just think that they could have made a button to brake yourself completely and a button to quick-jump to the rail closest to you, instead if having to jump 5 feet in the air and float down only to miss the rail 2 feet to your left. They also need to let you turn around on rails instead of you having to get off and try again. The only other problem in the game besides the controls is the voice overs. I seriously think they tried to get a 30 year old with a squeaky voice to sound like a 5 year old for almost every single character.

So to wrap this up, the ratio of good to bad in JSRF is about 500/2. Good game, huh? The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because the controls seriously tick me off. This game is an instant classic and anybody who owns any xbox should immediately rush to eBay and grab it. A tip to Microsoft? PUT THIS ON XBL. Since this game is so hard to find, they should make it downloadable so that everyone can enjoy what should have been GOTY 2002
