A whole lotta fun.

What's not to love about a game based on vandalism? In the future where an evil coporation is trying to take away the...funness of Tokyo, its up to the GGs, a gang of tripped-out kids to fend off cops and out-vandalize other gangs. And the story is part of the imaginative style used in JSRF. The cel-shaded graphics are great and the various characters, rival gangs and their tendency to...dance, helps give the game a unique, enjoyable feel. There's also the music, an all-original mix of techno with some rap and rock in there. The game pits you in Tokyo. Most of the game involves spraying your grafitti over other gangs' grafitti, and fight the police. Somehow, armed police officers, tanks and their other attempts to stop the youth of tomorrow can be defeated by spraying them. Why? Who cares, its fun. You'll also engage in various other games, like races and mimicking certain tricks. There isn't much of a trick system but you can grind for a long time without worry of balance and you can jump very high so the game's more platformer than Tony Hawk-style extreme sports. You grind onto rails automatically and usually this is a good thing but often it gets frustrating to end up grinding a rail you didn't want to. This is certainly one of the more annoying problems with the game but you can bear with it. Overall, Jet Set Radio Future is a great game, one that I'd easily recommend. By now copies of the game (some bundled with Sega GT) will be very cheap so grab one while you can.
