An attempt to be innovative, creative, artistically inspired, etc still winds you up feeling a little empty.
Indeed, a lot will balk at the supposed value one might get out of a game such as this that is so short, with limited physical interaction, etc. Quite simply, this is no where near a normal game and if you are a traditionalist it is likely this game will just piss you off.
Games like Journey demonstrate that an interactive experience on a video game console can be presented in an artistic way that evokes emotion and desire to move forward. Though a simple premise, you never have any clue what the conclusion of this game will be until you get to the end. There is some wonder and some desire to know just how things play out. Honestly, many movies fall short of such goals after spending millions and millions of dollars where you leave wishing you could get both your money and time back.
I will say that I want more from these guys. I really do want them to step it up a bit and create more than just an interactive story. Heavy Rain was an interactive story but it was full, rich, thrilling, and just as innovative. Was it a "game" per se? Not in the traditional sense but you finished feeling fulfilled with your investment of time and money feeling worth it.
This one won't be for many. However, if you want to encourage video games and their potential for innovation and the like, take a risk and spend the few bucks it is. These guys put in a lot of time.
