The PSN version of Jeopardy! looks like a faithful rendition of the show, however it ends up coming a bit short.

Jeopardy!, the thinking-man's game show, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, so you'd think they'd want to honor it a bit better than this game does.

At first glance this game looks great. The character creator, as in its sister-game Wheel of Fortune, is a bit shallow, with a small selection of pre-set faces and outfits to choose from, but the studio is faithfully digitized and looks fantastic.

Everything looks great as the intro plays, the players are introduced, and the board is loaded with dollar values, until you discover the complete lack of Alex Trebek or Johnny Gilbert. There is no audio in this game whatsoever except for the music and sound cues and some sparse audience reaction.

From there it goes even a bit further downhill as you buzz in to answer your first clue and are presented with, instead of a rotating wheel of letters with which to spell your question, four questions to choose from.

That's right, television's smartest game show has been reduced to mere multiple choice.

They got this right on the PS2 version of the game, why couldn't they have brought it along in this new version?

All in all I'd say if you're a Jeopardy! super fan, spring for the $9.99, otherwise let this one stay on the virtual rack in the PlayStation Store.
