Great JSRPG for the PSP a must play for fans of the genre!

The story itself hails from the tale of Joan of Arc, the Heroine of France who fought against the English during the 100 years war. Although, instead of following her tale word by word the game has a mixture of fantasy and the occult with demons, magic and the occasional monsters.

Gameplay wise it is very much like Final Fantasy Tactics which has become the forefront for JSRPGs. JDA mimics some of its telltale signs such as the 'wait' option for your character to choose his/her/ location in order to evade attack. Unfortunately, unlike FFT there are no job classes here to choose from. Every character has a set class ranging from sword and shield, bow, mage to axe wielder. The variety isn't much with a few rare exceptions such as a whip user, though that should not hinder your enjoyment of the game.

Music wise and loading time the game has great load times. The music itself is pretty redundant and after a while you might get tired of listening to it, not that there's anything wrong but the battle and menu screen BGMs never do change until you are very far into the game.

Sidequest wise there are a lot of 'free battlefields' to fight after you clear a level. And I do recommend that you clear these battlefields in order to level up your characters because if you do overpower/overlevel it's pretty much a walk in the park. And if you did what I did, replay each level after you beat the same level that's required to advance, you can gain much needed items and xp. This game isn't that hard really. Level5 has done an outstanding job this time, and I do wish they make a sequel or another game in the same genre that is based on JDA's game design.

Sidequest wise there is a Colosseum that you can do which gives out neat prizes and xp. Also, you can resurrect a certain character post game, and if you are an item collector there is a myriad of weapons, armor and skills to find. Most are bought but there are some which need to be found in the battlefield.

Do pick it up, it's a good buy and a great game to play.
