jak and daxter fan or not, get something else

User Rating: 8 | Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier PSP
I'm a huge fan of this series. I bought and played and beat every jak and daxter game made up to date. It's my opinion that Jak 3, and then Jak 2 were the best of the series that I won't forget. After that You have Jak X combat racing, which is an awesome racing game, but then again another adventure could had been better. Daxter was a great title, even though I don't and would not like to play it anymore, I won't deny i beat it over 20 times. I played and beat the other games in the series a mulitiple of times, and I saw this game coming out and i was excited until i saw it was being made by High Impact games, I lost hope. The game is decent for the PSP I will say, which is why I gave it a 8 out of ten, but as far in the series, I don't won't to seem harsh but this is the worst in the series. The game isn't terrible, It is fun while it lasts. Still, they took out dark Jak and Light Jak and replaced them with a bunch of color echo powers, which in my opinion are fun to use, but still not that good of a trade. In the game you are either on ground or you are flying. I the ground part was decent, it wasn't exactly how I would like it to be, but I have to say it was my favorite part. The air part is more of a wreck than it is fun. I don't know why they would put flying ships in a psp game, it looks awful comparing to the ground portion, you eventually get many different ships with many upgrades, and it is fun to explore and shoot other ships. At the same time it feels more like a chore, and you can't really turn or do much, and the cooler turns and stuff are done by a press of a button which sounds cool, but just takes away fun from the game. Jak 2, 3, and X had a lot of driving and the driving in those games are extremely fun, but this is just garbage, and most of the game is flying! The camera issues Gamespot and Ign complain about are true, sometimes you can't see your feet which can be a slight issue. As for Dark Daxter, it's not bad I liked it. I hate HOW Daxter becomes dark daxter, because the cutscene that explains how he gets to turn to Dark Daxter is like 2 minutes long, it's cheesy, it's lame, and it probably required no thought to come up with the idea. However the other cutscenes with Daxter are humorous and make the story a little more enjoyable, and the gameplay is okay, fun, not great, and it doesn't take that long to beat anyway so...
The story though was so stupid, It is about these people experimenting with Dark Echo, they bring in some dumb characters from Jak X, and they add too many new and lamer characters that the story is garbage. You still have decent voice acters, but no good story. My say that they should have continued the story from Jak 3 not X. And my say that they should had made a different version for the ps2 and psp because I gave this a 8 out of ten for the psp, but if this is the same game for ps2 I would give it a like idk 5 or 6 out of ten because they ps2 deserves better.
In conclusion Naughty Dog gave up an awesome and funny series, and I don't care what people say about uncharted two, because they could had made a game just as good or better for the ps3 starring Jak and Daxter, and have better characters, story, and value, but instead they left this game with an ok company who made a game that was garbage comparing the other games in the series.
