Developer: Konami
Game Genre: Sports/Soccer Sim

Gameplay
Still in 2000, the GBC had a lot of limitations. Konami managed to pull this one off, though.

First of all, the game modes. As always, there is an Exhibition mode. There’s also the International Cup Mode (a.k.a. the World Cup). There is a Quick League mode and a Quick Tournament mode as well.

As for the in-game play, most of that will be explained in the improvements section.

Graphics
The graphics are very good for a sports game on the GBC. Again, though, with the limitations. Just because they are good for a GBC game does not mean they are good. You can, though, see the black dots on the soccer ball. That’s kinda cool.

Improvements
Previous Game: International Superstar Soccer 99

Firstly, the graphics. Mega-improved. Then, the gameplay. Super-improved. It’s now possible to score a goal! And everybody celebrates. Players are easier to control, and there’s now a little map on the bottom of the screen with dots that stand for the players on the field. This makes up for the lack of visibility due to the GBC’s small screen.

Konami did well.

Durability
Very good durability. The International Cup Mode will last a while, just because of the World Cup format, and even after that, you’ll want to do it again.

Sound:
Well…it’s pretty hideous. During the game, you hear some sort of crappy drum cadence…or something…very strange.
