80's / 90's JRPG Throwback!

This game is much like many of the JRPGs from the late 80s and most of the 90s. The main quests are fairly linear and gameplay depends on finishing those quests, but there are many side quests also to allow for some level of free-play.

The game is fairly easy to play, but there are some buggy elements with the item interface to contend with, especially when trying to equip or move items around. You're limited in space with 'bags', and once the bags are full, you have to drop something or lost the new item. Of course when you drop the item, it falls to the ground right where you stand, so you're sometimes stuck with a confused GUI that doesn't realize you don't want the item, but rather the item you're trying to get.

The other problem with items is buying or equipping new weapons and armor. It would be nice if the purchase screen showed who could use each item, as well as what changes to your stats the new item makes.

Other than the problem with items, the only other issue I really have with the game is the constant shuffling of your core team. I don't mind some changes to advance the storyline, but it seems each new town I go to, someone leaves, someone new comes in, or some other spoiler-prone event happens. But that's kind of the thing you have to expect when you play an RPG.

Overall, it's a really neat game. It'd be worth playing on any platform, but the fact that it's on Android instantly makes it one of the absolute best RPGs on a platform that hardly has any worth mentioning. This is one of those games worth making an in-game purchase just to support future development.
