It's like Michael Bay decided to direct The Dark Knight after Nolan's Batman Begins....

Infamous 1 was unique, serious, and in many ways bleak. Infamous 2 is sunshine lollipops that has nothing to do with the first one...

I bought the collection pack for both of these games. After Infamous 1 quickly blasted away my preconceived notions that the game would be a generic, hand holding affair. I instantly smiled at the fact that I got both games for the price of one... Well, I wish...

Let's take a serious tone and great story and spit on it! You know what we need? More colors! Brighter! Let's make the game easier so more people play it! Serious story and character development? **** that! The kids won't like it... ugh

So everything that happened to Cole in the last game... had absolutely no effect on his personality. He talks to Zeke like they're the best buddies in the world... he hits on the new chick like nothing happened in Infamous 1... What the **** are you writers thinking?

While there are some nice improvements to the gameplay, the overall package is hugely disappointing.

Gameplay (7/10):

+Moving around the city is more fluid and easier with new powers
+Cole gets to keep a lot of old powers as the game starts
+User generated content is an awesome idea
+Still fluid controls

-Way too easy yet sometimes certain missions will have annoying enemies
-Way MORE repetitive than the first one (never ending minibosses which are the same, helicopter fights over and over again, every side mission feels the same.)
-Melee went from easy one button gimmick that was just there if you wanted it to a full blown one button gimmick forced on you through close quarter enemies and slow motion finishers with annoying camera angles.
-Why would you make an electricity based character only to give him ice or voodo superpowers...?
-Throwaway villain
-Throwaway story which makes no sense (can't elaborate because of spoilers.)

Graphics (8/10):

+Still detailed
+The city sections look different this time
+Better framerate
+Great special effects

-No more gritty, serious look to the game
-Enemy design is atrocious (Looks like some of it is ripped straight off of Resistance and Ninja Gaiden)

Sound (7/10):

+Sound effects are still good
+Some of the music is quite unique
+Voice acting still solid... except---

-New voice actor for main character... why? and wat's with the lisp?
-Also what's with the lisp for the chick?
-No more serious tone music... or dialogue

Value (5/10):

+Cheap
-Non replayable
-Shorter than the first
-Side missions are absolutely useless this time
-Went from unique to Michael Bay

If you liked the first game, this will be either a treat or a piece of **** based on your preference in sequels.

Overall enjoyment level (independent of other scores):

6.5/10
