Great story and gamplay...until...

I just finished playing through the entire game and had never read anything about it. No one had told me anything except that I should play it and it was extremely different from any other game I had ever played before. I must say that everyone that recommended it was absolutely right...definitely a game that had to be played. But I was disappointed in the story. I'm not trying to spoil the game for anyone who hasn't played it yet, but what the hell? Why is it that the first 2/3rds (maybe even 3/4ths) of the game is brilliant, then this "plot twist" comes into play and it becomes a cheesy b-movie. I really enjoyed every aspect of the title up until it became a freaky sci-fi story. Hell, I was about to overlook the Matrix-inspired combat scenes and the backdrop story that began to mimic The Day After Tomorrow, but it just got too weird. I'm not saying you should stay away from it...just know that the story only goes on for so long before the writer obviously ran out of ideas and started fishing for something to tie in an ending. The decline in the story has really cost this title the "great" review it deserves and left it with a "mediocre". And don't expect to spend more than 7-10 hours on the entire game...not so bad if it weren't for the final few hours being complete crap and wanting to just finish it and move on to something else. The story should not have that effect on a game...you should be wanting more at the end...not be ready to move on.
