A cinematic wonder that leaves you wanting more.

User Rating: 9.3 | Indigo Prophecy PS2
Indigo Propehecy is one game that caught my eye ever since Gamespot first reported it being published. The idea of a movie/game with a CSI like enviroment made me intrigued about the game, and caused me to buy the game right off the self when it first arrived at my nearest EB store. The story begins with Lucas Kane, a young IT manager at a bank who is in the process of breaking up with a long time girl friend, who is in the washroom of a diner. Whie he is in there he is mysteriously possesed and kills a man in the bathroom in a ritual like matter. Once he awakes, he finds himself sitting over the corprse horrified. Not knowing why or how he could commit a murder. Once the cinematic is over the gameplay starts where you must make several choices that involve from hiding the body, cleaning yourself off and walking out trying to make sure no one notices you or you can simply run out of the washroom covered in blood and of course you become the number one suspect. However, Lucas Kane isn't the only one you control, characters such as Calra Valetri and her partner Tyler Miles are also avaible to control as you try to solve the murder and catch Lucas. First off the one thing that will really make Indigo Propechy shine will be it's story. It's in depth character development, and mind bending plot will keep you interested every step of the way as you unravel the mystery to behind the odd ritual murders. You will go inside the characters Lucas, Carla, Tyler, and many other characters lives; seeing there problems and strengths they have in their personal lives. There is so much detail in the story that it's mind blowing it's even in a game. The graphics aren't the best in the world when it comes to the characters with Tyler Miles looking at bit odd with his cap where in some instances it looks like a giant Afro, but other then that the movements of the characters are well done with detailed facial expression, and a mind blowing enviroment. The lights and shadows of New York make you feel captivated as you move your character through the streets as snow falls from the sky above. The sounds of Indigo Prophecy are amazing, the voice acting done for the character is believable and emotional. The music for the enviroments and for the tracks match up to the mood, and really moves us into the reality of watching a movie then a game. The gameplay is unquie and fits very well with the "choose your fate" kind of way. Though it's a shame that you mostly have to concentrate on the buttions you have to press then sit back and watch what's going on, but then again somethings need to be done to make it work. The only thing I felt that was wrong with Indigo Prophecy was how near the tail end the story is a bit rushed, and leaves too many answers in the end, but still I suggest that the game is worth the 39.99 price tag (49.99 CAN). It's beautiful written story mixed with wonderfully captived enviroments make Indigo Prophecy a game for anyone that wants a good thriller/Mystery in their gaming collection, and I for one don't plan on trading this game for a very long time.
