It has its moments, and that is what counts.
How does it work up? Not that bad surprisingly. While the game's graphics are no where neer what they could've been, when comparing to games like Jedi Knight and Quake 2, also from the late 90's, the game makes up with (some) gameplay. You pretty much fly around blowing up ships and conduits, while flying over cityscapes and dirt, and it kinda works. While gameplay can get repetitive at times, (and hard) some missions do help divirse gameplay. For example, At one point you must protect an airplane from death. After that, then you destroy more conduits.
Overall, the game is still fun, and worth a try.
If single player gets too boring for you, always play multiplayer. The PC version uses both a network compatibility (FOr online games like in Quake) and a head-to-head combat in a split-screen view, something rather interesting for PC games.
Nonetheless, in all, the game does have its moments from time to time, mostly in gameplay and level design, and that is what counts.
