One of the best of C64 makes it to the Virtual Console, with great results.

User Rating: 8 | Impossible Mission C64
A game that can truly be regarded as a C64 classic, Impossible Mission is an early eighties platform game that's still extremely playable to this day. It's perhaps most famous for the digitised speech at the beginning of the game ("another visitor! Stay a while... stay forever!"), but this is a bit unfair because it's also a great game in its own right.

Playing as a secret agent, you have to infiltrate the offices of an evil genius and recover pieces of a puzzle. These pieces spell out the password that give you access to the room he's hiding in. The problem is the puzzle pieces are hidden in various parts of furniture throughout the professor's huge building, so it's up to you to search through all the furniture while avoiding the professor's deadly robot guards.

Impossible Mission can be extremely frustrating at times, mainly because some robots tend to be extremely difficult to get past (not to mention the fact that your character has a rubbish jump). Thankfully, as you search the various items of furniture, you may come across 'robot snooze' programs which can be used at computer terminals to disable the robots for a short while.

Considering a DS version of Impossible Mission was recently released for £19.99, the C64 version is a bargain at 500 points.
