Hot Wheels Velocity X is a good game just that the difficulty of challenge mode and parts of story make it just that.

(+) plenty of cars to unlock, decent selection of different tracks to race on, neat trick system to go with the game, addictive when winning in story or challenge mode.

(-) frustrating when losing in story or challenge mode, the game is a bit short.

The modes in this game are story mode challenge mode, drag race mode for one or two players and battle mode for one or two players and Joyride mode. Story mode and challenge mode are fun when the missions aren't overly hard you are supposed to complete several objectives at a level to complete it some can be simple like a race when other are like avoid all orange cones, destroy thirty boxes and make it to the finish line in like one minute. This game did not really need a story it is funny how the main characters voice sounds like Danny Phantoms though.

The graphics are good and I only saw a few frame rate problems when I had to fight other cars and not when I was just driving. The cars or cool to look at the fast ones were made to look fast and the slow ones were made to look slow. The track design was cool because you could drive on walls and drive up roads that basically denied physics.

Joyride mode is just a mode you play to go to a level without having to complete objectives you also unlock a few cars by getting all ten gears or finding a key at some of the levels. Challenge mode is like story without the story you play levels that have several objectives for you to complete to unlock weapons and some cars. The story in story mode is that the prototype car and plans to make super fuel was stolen from Dr. Justice by a gang of thieves and Max Justice has son has to get them back. Battle mode is a mode in which you blow up enemy cars to score points to win the match. Drag race mode I think is just like normal racing in this game.

This game was a bit short but the game is still quite fun overall so I would recommend it to those interested but, it is more mission based driving than kart racing.
