Hexic HD... It certainly is.

If like me you're fairly ignorant to most things, you'll find that having a full version of an XBLA already installed on your 360 to be a nice treat. I played it once and stopped after 2 minutes. I thought it was horrible.

Then I left it for about 2 weeks, when my friend encouraged me to give it another go. I promised I'd play the whole first level, then I played the second. Then the third... And the fourth...Then I shut it off for my own good.

Hexic HD is a charming, puzzling little blighter that will require all your wits to progress from level to level. The key to this game is rotating three pieces at a time to form combinations which makes those pieces disappear so more pieces can fall down. Each level has a certain number of combinations needed before you can progress.

One thing I love about Hexic HD is how strangely complex it is. I got to Level 4 and it told me about flower power. Flower power is when you have a tile in the middle (an Orange for example) surrounded by tiles of a different colour (let's say Red) so it looks like a flower. When you achieve flowers, the middle tile becomes silver and the rest disappear.

Flower power is just one of many little querks in the game which will leave you puzzled, yet hooked. Lots of little achievements are to be found in this game; so even if you're just playing for those you're bound to have a great time. Leaderboards keep track of all your friends who play Hexic so you can always have somewhere to aim for; it's an entirely great package.

Hexic HD is a colourful gem of a game, well worth a play at least once. Seeing as how it is already installed on your premium 360 it's probably offended if you still haven't played it. I have to go now; I'm going to...Not play Hexic. *Cough*
