Heroes of the Pacific is a WW2 game that takes place in the Pacific. Its focused on the aerial combat. I know that this another WW2 game but this game is really fun. In this game you play as William Crowe, a pilot who is out for revenge after he lost his brother at Pearl Harbor. As Crowe, you fly through 26 missions with a variety of aircraft. Including those that never saw combat. The story mode has artistic cutscenes along with real footage of the Pacific war. The story takes you on a variety of missions that include dogfighting, bombing missions and recon missions.

The scale is huge. Over 100 japanese planes on screen at once. The only problem is that with a couple of shots will down the enemy planes like flies. Its similar to how the Rogue Squadron series worked. Still its impressive to see that many planes without any skips or slowdowns. The multi-layered clouds look pretty along with the water below. The graphical detail of each aircraft is impressive. Overall, the graphics are great.

The game is very intense. You will encounter lots of flak and other anti-aircraft fire. Japanese planes will try relentlessly to take you down and the constant chatter of allied pilots make it intense. You will also encounter big naval battles and you must assist the allied ships as they toss planes at each others fleet. This game might just be as intense as the Call of Duty series.

There is also a fair amount of unlockables too. Over 30 planes to unlock as well as some bonus missions. Some of the bonus missions have you play as a Japanese pilot which is pretty cool. As well as a variety of multiplayer game modes.

In Heroes, you have a lot of freedom. The levels are huge, so you can fly great distances. You can command wingmen as well. Wingmen are important because they can knock an enemy off your tail or they can assist you in bombing.

The bad side is that Heroes of the Pacific is a difficult game. You have limited health and you will get shot a lot. Also there are multiple mission objectives that you must complete simultaneously which can be tough.

In simple words here is the good and the bad.
Good: Great graphics and gameplay. Great sound and voice acting.
Bad: Its difficult and frustrating sometimes.

Overall Heroes is not a bad game. History buffs beware though, some of the missions are not historically accurate. An example is the Iwo Jima mission, You have to fight planes that take off from the runway when the Japanese in real life didnt have planes when the battle got underway. It is still enjoyable though. I wasnt expecting the game to be this great because its made from a company I never heard of: IR Gurus. Man was I wrong.
