An underappreicated game that delivers more than just hacking, slashing, and leveling up. It's like...eggs? Yum.

User Rating: 8.3 | Hero Online PC
Let's face it- nowadyas, many gamers just want to find adventure in fantasy settings...or just something that doesnt involve paying to play. As an example, let us use maple story for instance. It is way over estimated. Runescape, in fact, is still better than it. Gunz isn't well-balanced. Silkroad Online is way beyond crowded. So many problems with mmorpgs today, right? In fact, the number of free mmorpgs made today far exceed the number of problems they have. Then comes Hero Online, something that is blotted out unfairly by other cheap games. The truth is, I didn't download hero because it seemed interesting. I downloaded it because I was completely bored and frustrated by the lack of good free games out there, considering the fact that I have a need for adventure.

Gameplay - Hero Online seems like an average online 3D game with job classes like any other mmorpg. Wrong. (Now, look down at the pros and cons.)

Pros- This game is actually not based on level grinding, and it certainly does not involve a bad community. You get to choose a "type of character" (as I say it) at the beginning, which determines what weapons you choose. Pick the Ruthless Blade, and you will stumble on a brave but dull warrior. Click on the Overseer of the Sky and you will find a strictly all-martial-arts man with vast amounts of strength. Choose the Elegant Mystic and you will have yourself a female character who is intended to be a healer and uses warrior weapons. Last, you could use the Piercing Eyes, another female intended to be an assassin who uses blades, swords, and throwing knives. Of course, you will control the character from a 3-D look and click on monsters and attack. Basically, you'll travel, battle, choose a job at level ten, level up, ride on animals and tame them, and interact with other players. Still, the battle system and environment along with the rapid monster respawns cancels out level grinding. Also, PvP is awesome. There are faction wars with characters who choose sides (either zhuang or shao) and have large-scale battles, or you could just place bounties on other players at kick their asses. The visuals (although not so great) and sound really shows ancient china.

Cons - The graphics need to be a bit enhanced. Er...it seems a bit weird, but the makers of the game really need to find a way to attract more players. There is one overall boss server that contains 10 seperate servers...that are not close to being filled. That makes the community a bit more quieter and nicer, but it means no partying. It's really hard to actually find people who will party with you and help you level. Also, the game isn't beginner-friendly. It holds no tutorials, and it doesn't show where NPCs are or what they're supposed to be doing, like selling or giving out quests. Next, it explains nothing about stat points, neither do the players.....so people end up making horrible builds. The controls are going to be clunky for many, so there has got to be an interface and hotkey display. But, no one explains the hotkeys or controls.

Basically, Hero is a good mmorpg that should be played more often by players, because it's unique. Actually, there are many mmoprgs like this that deserve to be played.....so......GO, GOOD MMORPGS!!!
