It's simply one of the very few best games I've ever played! I enjoyed Fahrenheit so much, so Heavy Rain was awesome!
Faces of the characters are very realistic, you can clearly see their emotions, their mental state. The music is above all, pure excellence. The story is the best part, because it's interactive drama, psychological thriller, my best of all, favorite genre. I just like it very much. There are many ways for this game to end, quite a number of different scenarios and there's no actual failure or game over. At worst it can only be a shorter experience, but that's it. Your first playthrough is the original one. Ok, I probably said enough as for my first review at GameSpot. Here are my rating results:
1. Graphics 10/10
Nothing to criticize really, everything looks very good.
2. Story 10/10
Such a great and unique story, even some of the Hollywood greatest films could hardly be compared to this wonderful masterpiece
3. Music 10/10
Oh man, classical music all the way! Nr.1 of all time! And what a great work they've done with orchestra, symphonies are just awesome. Very amazing indeed.
4. Controls 10/10
Nothing difficult really. If you selected that you play video games regularly(as most of gamers probably done that ;p) and find it challenging to pass all trials without too much mistakes then just change it, it's not a big deal :).
5. Gameplay 9/10
Well, sometimes, especially at the very beginning you may feel a little bit bored, too much walking and waiting and not doing too much, like watching a film, of course it's interactive, but only because sometimes you still may feel bored it gets 9 out of 10, still not bad though :).
Final verdict: 49/50.
