Great new innovative game!
Story:
The story as many have stated did seem to have plots holes here and there. I was tired while playing the game most of the time so that didn't help but there were times when I would ask who is that person or how did I end up here. I expected this from a game with tremendous potential so I didn't mind it much. Other than a story that you have many decisions to do as you please, what more could you ask for? A brief summary for those wondering though: A man has two sons, one dies and the other is kidnapped so the father must go through trials set up by the kidnapper to get the address to where his son is being held.
Controls:
I was content with how the control scheme worked out. Reminds me of Resident Evil where you hold a trigger button to walk and rotate the stick to turn the character. I did get frustrated at times when the camera angle would change and the character went in a direction I didn't intend them too. This is what makes the game fun though is the use of the Six-Axis in a fun and practical way that gives the controller idea more potential than before. I felt that this made the game feel more interactive.
Sound:
The music throughout the game was terrific. They knew how and where to put the music that matched what you were doing. If you were in a time sensitive situation the music would be fast paced to throw you off or get you more immersed into the environment. Voices were spot on with the characters and actions.
Visuals:
I'll admit that I might have set the bar too high in terms of what I was expecting the game to look like. I am pleased though with the results. The environments are some of the best I have seen on the PS3 and the facial expressions and character detail are the best I've seen yet in any game. At times the game got a bit choppy and I read that the reason its in 720p and not at 1080 is because there would be a significant frame rate drop.
Conclusion:
This is a definite buy for any PS3 owner looking for a game other than the usual shooter or adventure game with the same usual plot and game play. The visuals are spot on along with the audio provided to make it one of the most interactive games I have played. Controls are a bit frustrating at times but you'll get used to them. These and the fact that they are coming out with future episodes make this what I would call a good investment.
