Heavenly Sword™ is a beautiful masterpiece of next-generation gaming precision.

User Rating: 10 | Heavenly Sword PS3
The Good:
Nariko is a beautiful lead character • The characters in Heavenly Sword™ has been carefully created and voiced by Ninja Theory • Heavenly Sword™ truly has vivid and exclusive graphics which makes this game just look awesome • The combat system rocks • Boss battles are simply spectacular and epic.

The Bad:
Hell Mode is useless to complete because it offers the same things Normal Mode has to offer, enemy AI and difficulty has just been increased • There isn't really variety in enemy designs, only armor seems to increase as you play through the game • The game really leaves you begging for more, as it is over before you even began playing.

Heavenly Sword™ is a really beautiful game, taking you on this adventure through a land ravaged by the evil King Bohan. You play as Nariko, a 'curse' as her own people call her because a male deity should have been born and not a female. Nariko is a very agile, beautiful and also at the same time fragile character which uses this huge sword for a weapon as she combats enemies through the game. Boss battles in Heavenly Sword™ is like watching a action movie, Heavenly Sword™ features the same tap-a-button style the God Of War™ series has where at certain times to defeat a boss or to damage a boss drastically, you have to tap the buttons shown on the screen. The combat system is truly different and awesome in Heavenly Sword™; you can just randomly tap some buttons and no matter what you do the moves which you do looks just simply stylish. Heavenly Sword™ features three combat stances, the Speed stance, Power stance and finally the Range stance; this helps you choose how you would like to defeat enemies in Heavenly Sword™ and is also essential to defeating some enemies or bosses in Heavenly Sword™. Heavenly Sword™ isn't just another tricked out game featuring a combat system; it is also unique because it adds two new features of its own to the original beat 'em up styled game recipe, Aerial Combos and Superstyle moves. Aerial Combos allows you to hit your enemies up into the air and deal some extra rapid damage to your enemies, to do an Aerial Combo is kind of frustrating because in some cases the SIXAXIS™ Wireless Controller won't agree with you. Yes, you heard it right; to perform some combos in this game you can use the SIXAXIS™ Wireless Controller. Superstyle moves on the other hand is the most coolest thing a game could have, there is a circle (this is part of the game's HUD) in the upper-left corner; when killing enemies it turns, when it crosses over a circle it will fill it and hence you can perform the coolest one kill move ever seen. There are three circles to fill, the more circle is filled; the cooler moves you can perform. Characters in Heavenly Sword™ are fresh, funny and unique; they make the game more interesting for you, especially King Bohan voiced by the legendary Andy Serkis who also voices Gollum in the Lord of the Rings™. Heavenly Sword™ has an ending like no other game ever seen but, all the action, blood-hungry moves and massive battles ends there because the game is as short as the battles are long. The Playstation®3's technology allows Nariko to face of against thousands, latterly thousands of enemies at once without the frame-rate slowing down. After completing Heavenly Sword™ on Normal Mode there is no need to complete Hell Mode as it is just the same, you are just testing your skills to see if you can get everything again but, on a higher difficulty level. There is another playable character in Heavenly Sword™, her name is Kai. You play as Kai through some portions of the game, the weapon she uses is a longbow, which when shot allows you to use the SIXAXIS™ Wireless Controller and shoot down enemies with pin-point accuracy (if you are good at it of cause).

Heavenly Sword™ is what action adventure fans would want, even if the game is not as long as it looks but, it provides enough fun for you to enjoy. Heavenly Sword™ is a really spectacular game (beautiful also), that is why it deserves to be in your collection.
