Why?
I can see the concept that Paradox has brought to the table, allowing a player to sit in the driver's seat of any choice nation, to relive and/or perhaps guide the reigns of what was and still is the greatest war in history. In doing so they have created a game full of "hands on" descision making and intricate details, enough to let you feel as though you are in full control of your countries destiny...
These are illusions, even though Paradox has had three attempts, to capitalise on succeeding their predecessor volumes, they remain to be just that, illusions.
Why is it that computers (and their software companies) are the only businesses that can successfully sell broken stuff to help pay for fixing it?That! is exactly what this game is, broken until they fix it!!! (eg. windows vista)(conflict of interest anyone?). Would you buy something brand new (full price) if you had to wait to use it before the seller came to your house to fix it? whats the point right.... God bless patches i guess.
Why make a "World War II" stratagy game and limit most nations to stay nuetral until attacked??? (all but a few), This is a game not history documentation, I've just lost the reigns, and the most conclusive option has been void.
Perhaps they will make you pay for that option in an expansion pack, just like they made you pay for it before!
The tech tree is vast, however it takes for ever to advance in anything, which makes the limitied time frame of the game itself seem unorthodox, and the upgrades seem too miniscule for the time invested. Much could be said about other areas of the game.
I am dissapointed in this game and think paradox has cheated its fan base by calling this game HOI III. Not revolutionary, Not an improvement, Not at all a compliment to the series.. I hope the future fixes for this game will make my reveiw nothing more than obselete.
I'm gonna give paradox the thanks they deserve now, so that i dont have to when they finaly make this game worth playing...... or maybe its just me.
