Miku's voice is as lovely as ever but does she play?

User Rating: 6.5 | Hatsune Miku: Project Diva PSP
Note that aside from some basic recurring kanji i have no knowledge of the japanese language.

Fans of the vocaloid series and regular nico viewers will all be familiar with miku's high pitched synthetic vocals and i am pleased to anounce they have remained intact during the portable conversion with crisp and vibrant music with varying styles from pop to rock.

During the background animations miku's dances seem quite natural and posses a wide variety of them that wont get boring fast that is if you have time to look away for a second that is.

The actual gameplay is rather disappointing, while there is not much that can go wrong with a rythmic game it appears almost like they tried their best to set a textbook example of how not to run thing.

The marks that indicate what button to press randomly appear as greyed out symbols of the corresponding button over a constantly flashing and moving backgouund as miku gives her performance.
On the greyed out symbol a clock like line goes full circle in 4 seconds flat indicating when to press (press @ 12:00) for the best timing. the speed at wich this takes place on the normal difficulty is nauseatingly fast. If personal preference makes it so you can also choose to time your strikes with the symbols that randomly appear anywhere on the screen and ZIGZAG theyr way to the greyed out ones.
the speed at which the game requires you to make inputs often makes it so that there are 5 greyed out and 5 zigzagging symbols on screen at once on a flashy/moving background.

The true fans (and sadists) will likely preserve re through the cumbersome and convulated presentation but the killer i saved for last.
The key of any rhythmic game is to attach the player by having every tone or pitch linked to a preset key giving the player the illusion they are actually playing a godly instrument of awesomeness instead Project Diva goes the entirely oposite direction and neither symbol placement on screen or the key to press has anything to do with the music. randomly and for apparently no reason the game will switch over between symbols with no logic in mind for the player to wrap its head around.

On the plus side there is plenty of quality music if you can find the effort to play through this mess, you will likely lose your eyesight from all the strain before reaching the end but don't let that stop you.

There is a ton of fanart unlockable but the quality is so diverce i cant really rate it apart from the massive quantity.

Please leave a comment as this is my first gamespot review, i know i have re-used alot of words due to my limited vocab :(
