Bungie leaves the Halo series with a BANG!

User Rating: 9.5 | Halo: Reach X360
Halo Reach still has some elements left over from the previous titles and some really great additions to it. The core gameplay elements have been wonderfully re-vamped to the butt, making the gun battles so much more enjoyable. The story's just as interesting as ever (whether you like Bungie's storytelling or not). It focuses on the Spartans and like always, you control one throughout the game except that you can customise him/her as you play. By which I mean that the Spartan looks just like how you customise it during the campaign mode. It also wouldn't surprise you that your Spartan (male or female) rarely speaks. It's of the SPARTAN III project where they designed the armors out of cheaper materials and provided with weaker shielding. And in some ways, you can see how the III series was more advanced than the Chief's II armor and at the same time a bit more inferior.

The graphics have also taken a wee bit of a tone down, the texture mapping doesn't look as detailed as Halo 3 sadly. But that's a small price to pay when you see how much more they were able to add on than they did with 3. The music is completely original this time around too. The weapons look like prehistoric versions of the old ones too yet oddly, more advanced. The same can be said about the vehicles as well. I can actually say that for the first time ever, story mode is actually a different experience than multiplayer. The mode Forge has also turned into what looks like a crazy version of level creator, which is worth checking out. And unlike Halo 3, Halo Reach allows you to earn points and ranks offline.
I don't know if you've seen or played Halo Wars but you'll be surprised to know that the story has some connections with some missions that were in Halo Wars. It also shows Bungie's REAL version of Dr. Halsey which is much more believable than that skinny blonde witch they showed in the movie collection: Halo Legends. Kind of like they corrected the historical errors those movie makers did and Halo Wars. All in all, this game is a perfect example of what makes the Halo series so great and now they have outdone themselves with Reach. Goodbye Bungie, we will never forget you.
