The beginning of a monster trilogy, Halo was easily the best game of 2001, and is one of the greatest shooters to date.
The controls were as smooth as butter. They responded seamlessly, and it took little effort to wipe out hordes of aliens with a couple of plasma grenades and a clip from the assault rifle.
Speaking of the AR, it was possibly the most favroite weapon in all shooter history, as well as the pistol from this same game. They were the best-designed, most well-balanced weapons ever to hit consoles.
The soundtrack was good too. Though it wasn't as great as its sequel's, the music adequately set the tone for the audience. The graphics aren't much to look at today, but at release time they hiked the bar for shooters.
Now, this excellent game is less than twenty dollars. if you have an Xbox, you have no excuse not to have this excellent game.
