Wait? The Game's Over!?!?!

I am writing this review, now that I don't have an xbox 360. I switched to ps3 because its better. Either way that's not what I'm writing about. This review is about ODST. I never really fell for the Halo series. The first Halo blew my mind. An incredible game that was above everything else of its time. Nothing had ever been done quite like it. Halo 2 was still fun, and then by Halo 3 I was bored. Nothing new in the game. Ya a decent story, but no new toys to keep my interest. When I first heard about ODST, I kinda buried my head in my hands. Couldn't believe they were still going. When I watched gameplay trailers however, I was amazed. It looked completely new! No master chief, new weapons, new environment, and new technology. So, I bought it and here is my opinion...

The Good...
I loved the two new weapons! The silenced magnum and automatic. Guns sound legit, and it just seems like so much more of a realistic weapon. The night-vision/thermal-vision is awesome! I really get this special ops feeling when playing this game. It is so much fun to sneak up on covenant and assassinate them. Now we have a team! An elite team of fighters! I loved the idea. Going solo with master chief gets tiring. Now their is some solo play with "The Rookie", but it is short and split up. The missions are very well orchestrated. They are all so much fun in different ways. You have your warthog mission, and your flying mission, and the descending into the covenant depths mission, and finally the tank mission. And best of all is the combat interface. The controller layout is by far the best of the Halo series, and allows for some pretty smooth combat.

The Bad...
I really only have one problem with this game. It was 2/3 shorter than it should have been. The entire game I am trying to find my team members, thinking that will be the start of the game. I finally get all my team members together and am waiting for the real combat t start, and then the game ends! I mean, the story was great and then they just end it, leaving you to wander what just happened. They don't wrap up the story. You really have no idea what you have just been fighting for. I honestly felt robbed of a good story. And the whole love thing they threw in their was just awkward. Didn't need to be their.

So, ya it is a decent game. Unfortunately, what could have been an amazing game, ended up only being decent. And I think that is a generous statement. You can beat it in a few hours.
