A classic Genesis game that is lots of fun to play by yourself or with a friend.

This was a favorite of mine growing up when I had my Sega Genesis. I never felt like it got the recognition that it deserved, however, until now. This is, I believe, the only stand-alone Genesis game available on the PSN, and in my opinion it's a great choice for one. Not only is this game cheap, but it is still a lot of fun by today's standards.

GAMEPLAY - This is, at heart, a beat 'em-up game, except you have guns. Your guns get two powers associated with them out of four, so you can mix and match different combinations, or even use two of the same for extra effectiveness. The bosses are all fairly easy, but make for interesting encounters. This is just one of those games where you can go blasting through every level and have a great time while doing so. - 8/10

STORY - The story is pretty typical of an older game; stop the big bad guy and beat up his buddies along the way. Not exactly inspirational, but it's still on par for most games of the time. - 6/10

GRAPHICS - Pretty much what you'd expect of Genesis graphics. They are by no means bad, but it would be really cool to see some updated graphics in the future. - 7/10

SOUND - I was never really a fan of the voice-acting nor music in this game, but that isn't really why you play this. The sound effects going on around you are enough to give you that satisfying feeling of destruction, so that's all that really need be said here. - 7/10

LENGTH/REPLAY VALUE - This game is just long enough to play through in around an hour, and fun enough to want to go back through again. Like a Turtles in Time or Streets of Rage, however, this is much more fun when done with someone else. Game developers of today could take a lesson or two from these older titles at designing better co-op games. - 8/10

BOTTOM LINE - This probably won't be the greatest game you ever play, but it's a classic from the Sega Genesis days. Not to mention that it's a steal at a $5 price tag. This is a very fun and nostalgic game that you and a friend can sit around blowing stuff up with. Definitely a very underrated game from the era it came from. - 7/10
