One of the best free games on the pc

User Rating: 9 | GunBound PC
The premise of gunbound is simple, you fight against other players on teams to get gold in order to get better equipment so you can gold better. There is no story, there are no AI. It's strictly player vs player and that is an interesting feature with its own distinct flaws and strengths.

The music of the game is fairly addictive with a nice calming music that really fits well with the art theme. Some of the music from the game i have to say still sticks in my head to the present even though It's been a while since i've played the game. On a scale of 1-10 i would rate it 10. The soundtrack is rather nice and if you don't like it simply turn off the sound and listen to your own as with all pc games :P

The graphics on this game have an anime style feel to it which is a relatively neat thing. It's nothing fancy but it does the job. The bots looks cute and the armor makes you able to customize your character to your liking pretty well. Though in competetive battles without armor off, it's very likely you'll see clones coming in and out of rooms with battle sets identical to each other. The settings of the maps is well drawn and the destructible environment is done well as well in terms of features. In such a game as guild wars, the artistic style of the map matters a lot.

There are a lot of WOW! moments in this game either from lucky shots such as double kill or excessively risky high aerial shots. The game is quite amazing and the community in this game is quite a talented one. On the whole people are nice and you can avoid the idiots by kicking them from rooms and by finding rooms that have battles to your liking. My personal favorite theme is random only, quite an interesting battle with the most surprises. This is a definite bonus from a game that would be single player, since you never know when something amazing will happen. This game will add some nice memories to look back upon definitely. In retrospect it looks great however there should be some caution because on the downside there is the fact that this game sometimes really glitches up. This tends to be annoying and tends to ruin games. When you waste 30 minutes because of glitches, the fun disappears.

The gameplay of gunbound is the selling point to this free game. WIth 4 types of battle modes, you can choose to play a target game such as jewel or play a game where you respawn few turns after you die and the player to get the set amount of kills first wins or you can choose to play it such that you have a single life and cannot come back or have double bots in a single game. Along with items and 16 different bots there is no wonder how some people can spend their entire lives playing this game. Also all bots have their own unique shots and it is nice to see that each bot isn't simply a clone of each other with different looking attacks. The bots actually have attacks that take skill to use and can be applied differently on different maps. The bigfoot mobile can bungee well with its quick explosive missle attacks and boomer is a high power, low lag bot that trades in its offensive power for a light attack that is arguably one of the hardest to master because of wind. The A sate attacks from the sky with a marker to direct lightning and the jd has a suction effect. The Nak even has an underground based attack! Attacks are divided into primary, secondary and special. The special shot can only be used once in a given amount of turns and can be extremely powerful such as bigfoot's red rockets or dragon's multiflame blast or can be very useful in their own right with special effects such as JD's pushing attack or Nak's Special which passes through ground and air and only makes contact with an opponent. I can spend a day listing the merits of the gameplay but I would rather not write a 20 page essay detailing the strengths of bots and their distinctiveness from each other yet balance. Play it and find out yourself, it is free so give it a shot. I highly recommend this game, but as a caution don't overplay it and get fooled by its free label. You could easily spend more money on micro transactions as someone would on a game like World of Warcraft.
