Im guessing they were trying to make this game feel like red dead revolver.. Oh well.

User Rating: 6 | Gun PS2
The good: variety of missions - good voice acting

The bad: "dead" AI - feels like they tried to copy red dead revolver - guns feel weak - bad controls - confusing story

2004's red dead revolver was very good. And this game could have been if it had come out first.
You play as colton white who was raised by and old hunter by the name of ned.
You start out in a field with ned where you learn the games basic controls and then you kill a bear that attacked ned.
Then almost instantly you and ned get on a steamboat with a important artifact and it seems that ned knows something about it but he is not alone.
And what do you know the boat is attacked by bandits after the artifact.
And later on in the story you find out that an ex-military dude is after it for some unknown reason. And of course its your job to try and stop him and his fellow bad guys.
The story really never is explained to you which makes it hard to comprehend why you are doing what you are doing.

The game is open world meaning you can go any where in the games world and do almost anything.
Like take on various side missions which include going after people you find on wanted posters or taking down animals that have been terrorizing towns.
The main story is easily the best and most fun part about the game even though there is not much good about it.
Colton has something sort of like a super power called quick draw that he can only use with his pistols.
What it does is slows down time and locks on to enemies heads at the same time and all you have to do is pull the trigger. But, once your quick draw is drained you can not use it anymore until you get some by killing enemies.
There are quite a few of weapons in the game like double barrel shotgun, colt revolver, rifles TNT, bows and a whole bucnh of other classic western weapons.
But, most of the weapons including the shotguns feel very weak the only exception is the bow which only takes one bow to kill an enemy. And even the most powerful pistol seems to take forever to just take down one enemy.
The basic gameplay is run and gun but there are some stealth missions where you have to be realy quiet and can only use your bow. There are quite a few of ambush missions including one of my favorites where you have to block off a pass with barrels of gunpowder and kill everyone on the train.
All around the game's world there is gold you can find to mine and get money (nd you also get money for doing side missions).
And you can use that money to buy upgrades, equipment and new weapons.

The game lasts around maybe 8 hours if you only do the main story missions otherwise it cuold take you anywhere from 10-15 hours.

There is NO multiplayer which i can understand given the type of game this is but it would have given it some replay value.

The graphics however are better than red dead revolvers with smoother textures, nice cutscenes and good world graphics.
I never did notice any lag but i did notice some clipping problems with the AI sometimes running through walls. Other than those and the AI looking uglier than the devil himself there were no other problesm with the graphics.

The sound is good and bad.
The acting is very good the music is good and the SFX is good. But the problem is that the music is the same in red dead revolver and the SFX sounds exactly like in red dead revolver.

Overall if you have not played red dead revolver that may like this game. But, if you have played it than i do not suggest it since you will very disppointed
