The game that catapulted the Guitar Hero series as a pop culture phenom is pretty good.

The first 2 guitar hero games laid the ground work for number 3 which would go on to become one of the best selling games of all-time. For the first time guitar hero 3 included some master tracks as well as the official likeness of some real-life rockers. Everybody is familiar with the Guitar Hero gameplay so no need to go into detail there. The game's presentation is an upgrade over the previous installments but obviously is lacking to some of the newer GH game's.

Everybody has different tastes in music. The Guitar Hero 3 track list is ok and better than the first 2 games. Some of the better, more mainstream songs are at the beginning of career mode but unfortunately most, if not all of these songs, are covers, which are largely inferior to their original tracks sung by the original artists. The latter half of the songs aren't that good but they are geared more towards hard rock than the first half of the track list. Good thing is they are master tracks. Then there are the bonus tracks that you can buy from the store but aren't part of the main game. They are done by smaller artist and quite frankly, they aren't very good to hear but at least there are more tracks to play through, just turn down the volume.

GH 3 is one of the most important games to have come out. It really put the music genre into the video game map. Give it a try if you are one of the few that haven't.
