As fun and as challenging as the first two.

User Rating: 9 | Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock X360
When GH 3 was first released back in 2007, it was obvious that the series was able to move up a bit since the first two games. With an all new art direction, song genres, and challenges, it was indeed the step in the right direction. The core concept of course has not changed since the first two titles. You're still holding a plastic guitar controller watching a scrolling highway send color coated notes at you while you have to hit them on time. Of course Activision had to add in a couple of new features. Some are a nice touch, while others can be frustrating. All in all, it's still Guitar Hero.

PROS:
-Just like previous titles, it's wacky looking rock-styled graphics are still nice to look at
-A little more lively character animations
-Really impressive and colorful looking gigs
-Songs kick ass
-More songs are now by the original artist
-Most of the cover songs are decent
-More challenging for Guitar Hero veterans
-Tom Morello and Slash
-Once you get used to it, battle mode is pretty exciting
-Through The Fire and Flames

CONS:
-Through The Fire and Flames
-Bret Michaels' motion capture isn't that impressive
-More character customization would have be nice
-While the story is decent, a series like this doesn't need a story
-If you already had a co-op game saved and one of your friends wants to play and he/she plays on a lower or higher difficulty than you, you gotta start over

Guitar Hero has always been famous for its innovative gameplay, and that sort of innovation is what draws people in and why it's so popular. While it has its faults, GH 3 is still a solid music game that is willing to impress veterans and beginners alike.
