Addictive, full of immersion, and an overall work of art.

User Rating: 9.5 | Guild Wars 2 PC
Having not played the first game; I can't give a complete perspective on this but I've had my fair share of MMORPGs in my time.

I came into this thinking that it was just gonna be another heart-eating MMO that would put a big hole in me where time well spent should be, but that wasn't the case at all.

Guild Wars 2 is fresh, fun and appealing in many ways. A lot of others have come along since the days of World of Warcraft; where it reigned over all the rest but now I think GW2 will be standing on the top of the podium for a while. This game can succeed where most fail in a way that it gets you addicted and have you spend most of your time playing it without feeling as if you've lost anything precious.

The game mechanics are great and have burrowed from the best of games that aren't just MMORPGs. Environment sounds fit the tone very well but the effects of the music can dwindle after too much play. I myself praise the way the world is set out and the variety of areas in such a small vicinity around parts of the map. The story and mythology behind it is enormous and interesting enough to actually read through. Quests are challenging in ways that make you feel like you've accomplished something and exploring areas give a great sense of adventure throughout the world. The guild part of the game itself can be one of the better aspects once you've settled in, and it will also provide a place of comfort in coming back to the game for more whilst keeping you interested.

A definite buy for the hardcore MMORPG players, especially because that Guild Wars 2 is Buy-to-Play and it's all worthwhile.
