Can you sit down for an hour or two and really get enjoyment or is it like WoW (At least when I played it) being a huge time sink? I ask because I dont have the time to get sucked into a game again that required 5 hrs worth of time an evening to really get anything worth while out of it.

I played the free trial and you can do a quest in like 5-10 minutes. Also if you go to a level 80 zone you get leveled to 80. What does this mean? This means that at like level 6 I was able to do the one time event they had going on as part of the free trial. it was awesome. You can't do this in WoW you will have to level up to where needed to do that instance or whatever.

It's really the smartest thing anyone has ever done. Other MMOS had sidekick systems, not here. The only time sink I would say is that leveling to 80 will take a little bit. Not as much as WoW though.

Pick it up you won't be dissapointed.

Note that you only got leveled to 80 because that was a free trial weekend and they wanted to give as many people as possible the experience of playing at Level 80. In general, GW2 does not automatically level you up if you enter a high level area. The exception is special events like the free trial weekend, or one-time events like they had at Halloween.

I love GW2 and find it addicting. So for me it is a time sink. I have all 5 character slots filled - plus I created and deleted at least 15 characters since the game launched because I wasn't 100% satisfied with them. In total, I have spent about 300 hours so far. Over 100 each on my two main characters - a level 65 Necromancer and a level 55 Mesmer.

But, to answer the original question, yes you can easily play the game for an hour or two each night. Quests and Events are usually quite short - from 5 to 10 minutes usually. Each level takes roughly an hour - if you don't spend any time crafting or socializing, it might only take half an hour per level - but if you do everything the game has to offer, i.e. Personal Story, Crafting, dealing at the Trading Post, Map Completion, etc., it could take almost 2 hours per level. The one-time even mentioned in the reply took 2.5 hours, and that is the single longest thing I have done in GW2. Other than that, the longest thing in GW2 would be the dungeons, which become available at Level 30.

Well you can hop into PVP at level 2 and no one is going to be more powerful than you, its all about how you look. You get auto leveled to 80 and all the gear/runes etc. Then you just chose a build and go. The PVE is still a time sink but only if you want to be really good at World vs World vs World or you enjoy dungeons. No subscription fee though.
