I don't usually play driving games because i'm impatient and generally lacking in skill, but Race Driver Grid I found myself enjoying it effectively from the first race.
The game is about you making your way to becoming the most reputable driver in the world by doing different events in Europe, Japan and the US.
This may be because the game gives you a powerful car on the first race, instead of starting your career with an old Peugeot and driving around at 80 mph for the first few hours. The second thing I really like is the simplicity of the controls, both in the racing and with the instant replay. The instant replay allows you to pause your current race and reverse the action back a certain length of time and a certain number of times, which for a player like me that makes little mistakes with big consequences, is useful as well as implemented effectively.
Other factors of Grid I was impressed by was how the graphics had held up 5 years later, and how the team set up (patterns, who sponsors you, who your team mate is) is genuinely involving and how I clearly saw my stats improve in comparison to the in-game teams. It makes you feel involved in something. There is a number of different events, and you will have a favorite by the end, be it drifting (there are about 5 different kinds) or American muscle (only about 2 varieties). There is equally a large number of cars to drive and tracks to drive on.
Although I do/ did really enjoy this game, I found some problems such as the physics. If you bump into another car, they'll be fine, and if they some much as tap you whilst turning, you will probably spin out in the most extraordinary ways. This led to some really frustrating moments when I was close to winning and crashed because I got tapped ever so slightly. Another thing that annoyed me was the emphasis on drift races, which are well implemented, but I'd much prefer more derby's or more muscle or touring car races (but that's personal opinion). My final issue was that some events consisting of 3 consecutive races which are the same track in reverse and/ or with some extra laps.
I'm told by a friend that the online is great, but my internet doesn't allow me on PSN so i can't really comment on it too much.

Overall, this is a great and somewhat forgotten game that I recommend to anyone who's stumbled across the title.
